Abstract
This blog post provides an overview of the research that underpinned the authors' recent article in the Teaching in Higher Education Special Issue – 'Working in the borderlands: critical perspectives on doctoral education'. The article, 'Borderlanders: academic staff being and becoming doctoral students', uses the borderlands' metaphor developed by Gloria Anzaldúa to frame our analysis of academic staff who study for a doctorate in their home institution.
