    Abstract

A vehicle seat assembly having a backrest support comprising a first torsion tube 11 for adjusting a recline angle and a chassis comprising a second torsion tube 18 for adjusting height rise. The first and second torsion tubes are arranged concentrically about a pivot axis A. Preferable the second tube is disposed inside the first tube and they are rotatable independently of each other. The backrest support may comprise at least one mounting plate 12, 13 to which the first torsion tube is fixedly connected. The tubes may be rotated by an actuator, e.g. an electric motor (27, 33, figure 7). Preferably the first tube is fixedly mounted to a transfer arm (42, figure 6) comprising a deformable link 30 which absorbs impact energy during collision. The chassis may comprise at least one rear mounting arm 20, 21 to which the second torsion tube is fixedly connected
