Abstract
Chemical activation and process intensification is provided through ultrasonically-induced cavitation in a liquid medium, a process often described as sonochemistry. Examples are chosen from a number of fields which illustrate the wide ranging applicability of this technology in the chemical and processing industries. Some practical industrial applications which use high-power ultrasound are reviewed.
