Abstract
This piece will examine a recent Court of Appeal decision that gives guidance as to the approach that needs to be taken by local authorities seeking to obtain borough-wide injunctions prohibiting encampment by persons unknown on public spaces. In that sense the decision is important in providing guidance on the balance between the rights of travellers and the social and other issues that local authorities must take into account in allowing travellers to use public land.
