Threshold Concepts have a key role in educational theory, and the Threshold of Design Uncertainty was identified in research at Coventry University as a core issue in design pedagogy. The development of strategies to cope with this barrier to successful design thinking was a successful output from the Centre of Excellence for Product and Automotive Design which has implications across the discipline.
