Abstract
This writing draws directly from my PhD research and forms the opening PhD argument that the framework of studio photography is culturally insightful, both historically and in the present. It is original work that argues for the cultural value of studio photography. It was submitted and successfully accepted for my MPHIL/PhD upgrade and has been adapted for this publication.
