    Abstract

We study the use of food waste reducing digital platforms by supermarkets. These platforms help supermarkets disseminate last-minute discounts on perishables products, typically given 1-2 days before expiry, to a wider audience. However, uploading products on these platforms is a time-consuming process, and we study which category of products, when uploaded, gets a stronger response from consumers. We find supermarkets can save costly resources by prioritizing some categories when it comes to uploading last-minute discounts on digital platforms.
