Abstract

Unsaturated polyester (UP) systems were characterized in terms of rheology and tested for thermosetting parameters, during their cross-linking reaction with of organic peroxide. The progress of hardening was followed by DSC measurements, allowing the determination of the peak exotherm and reaction enthalpy. In addition, experiments were run for the determination of gel time and the temperature exotherm. The obtained experimental results are useful for selection of the recommended temperature and initiator concentrations for curing of the above UP systems.
