    Abstract

The SEA-Lanchester wave energy group has been involved in the United Kingdom wave energy research programme since 1975, and involved in the design of a device known as the SEA-Clam since 1978. This paper describes the computer aided experimental work carried out by the group over a period of several years, which has been used to identify the structural design specification of a SEA-Clam intended for operation in the North Atlantic. Finite element work carried out subsequent to the experimental period is also described. The final design put forward by the group in conjunction with Howard Doris Ltd. (London) and C.G. Doris S.A. (Paris) is given, and the present development programme is outlined. (A)
