Regenerating Angola: João Lourenço and the Legacy of the Dos Santos Regime

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterpeer-review

    Abstract

This chapter charts Joao Lourenço’s transitional politics in Angola following nearly 38 years of dos Santos rule, and assesses how far the new President has really changed Angola’s political and economic landscape. Are Lourenço’s reforms mere window-dressing for the new MPLA elite, or a serious effort to renew the party, modernise the state and transform the economy?
