Abstract

The rapid increase of the use of unmanned aerial vehicles/drones by England and Wales law enforcement has not been matched by legal developments. This briefing draws from an empirical research project demonstrating the significant growth of their usage, and the disparity between forces. It concludes that there is a need for greater regulatory guidance for forces to ensure that policing by consent is not undermined.
