Abstract

Traditionally, stormwater runoff from impermeable surfaces has been intercepted and discharged swiftly to receiving systems. Rapid growth of urban and industrial areas has resulted in an increase in impermeable surfaces such as roofs, highways and paved surfaces, placing an increased burden on existing drainage networks and urban watercourses.
