    Abstract

Part of the Flatpack 11 Project, Birmingham, 6 April 2017. Part screening, part discussion, artist Darryl Georgiou, filmmakers Rebekah Tolley and Steven Chamberlain, and academic Rob Sharl will delve into the practicalities of archiving old media. Taking 1990s interactive digital art as a starting point they’ll examine emerging models for archiving and preservation of inherently ‘unstable’ works, seeking out ways to breathe new life into old-new media. Taking work from their own archive, Tolley and Georgiou will screen a selection of films on varying formats, and explore the changing role of the archive in the wake of a new digital landscape.
