Abstract

The present invention is directed to methods of improving the infectivity, potency, consistency of manufacture and/or yield of a live virus vaccine composition, preferably an influenza virus vaccine composition. The methods comprise the step of reducing the amount of defective interfering virus in the composition. The present invention also provides methods for monitoring the infectivity, potency, consistency of manufacture and/or yield of the composition, for example, by detecting DI virus in the composition.
