Abstract

Urban development concept for the Mandela Bridge. The idea was to connect northern and southern city with a living bridge. The idea is part of thinking about sustainable urban land use. The plan has influenced thinking about the city of Arnhem. (thanks to the co-finance of the ministry of planning) Started 1999 end 2008. The project is roughly divided into: Phase 1: Foundation Mandela Bridge / Phase 2: Arnhem on the Rhine / Phase 3: International agricultural and horticultural exhibition Floriade (In close collaboration with MVRDV and H + N + S landscape architects).
