    Abstract

This exhibition features archived materials from Dublin Contemporary Dance Theatre and their productions, in order to bring new focus and attention to a key era of our Irish dance history. The materials include costumes, programmes, videos, promotional materials, as well as historical story boards about the company's lifespan. There is also an activity box to engage participants in writing, moving, drawing and responding to the exhibition through social media.
The exhibition responds to the archives of Dublin Contemporary Dance Theatre (1979-1989), the first state funded contemporary dance company in Ireland. The project addresses how we can find creative ways to animate archival dance material in Ireland, share the embodied history of DCDT with an audience and pass on the repertoire to future artists. December 2016-February 2017; Dance House Dublin and Firkin Crane Cork.
