Abstract

This paper investigates the underlying dynamics behind knowledge management and the key success factors for overcoming the inhibitors of effective knowledge management within consultancy firms. It aims to provide a holistic view of all instruments that drive the success of knowledge management activities by surveying managers and senior consultants at medium and large-sized German consulting firms. The result implies that managers should create a knowledge sharing culture, implement appropriate knowledge management tools, foster social exchange and use suitable management instruments to maximize the success of their knowledge management activities.
