Abstract

A nonperturbative analytical result for the tail of the PDF of the local Reynolds stress (vorticity flux) R for forced Hasegawa-Mima turbulence is presented. Accordingly, it is envisioned that the PDF tails as the transition amplitude from an initial state, with no fluid motion, to final states governed by the modon with different values of R in the long time limit.
