Abstract

Green manures, also referred to as fertility building crops, may broadly be defined as crops grown for the benefit of the soil. This factsheet aims to help growers understand the range of effects that they can have, drawing on the findings of a number of projects funded by HDC and Defra. Two related factsheets address the selection of suitable species of green manures (25/10) and the economic
implications of their use (26/10).
