Abstract

This article presents the evolution of the prosthetic fabrication process. Also, the requirements for a porcelain-fused-to-metal alloy, which includes: Chemical properties, mechanical properties, thermal characteristics and esthetics and alloy color. Moreover, the alloy development was discussed in terms of: Strength considerations, porcelain adherence and oxide color, porcelain compatibility and biocompatibility.
