Abstract

Cancer is mainly the uncontrolled and abnormal proliferation of normal cells which results in the formation of a tumor. Chemotherapy treatment is commonly used for eliminating these tumor cells but this treatment is highly toxic in nature. In literature, different methodologies for the drug delivery scenario of chemotherapy treatment have been proposed. In this paper, fuzzy and two non-linear controllers: synergetic and state feedback controllers, have been designed for the control of chemotherapy drug for a non-linear four state ODE malignant tumor model. The model depicts the interaction of healthy, immune and tumor cells and their response to the chemotherapy drug. System stability of the non-linear controllers is established by using Lyapunov based stability theory. The response of the proposed controllers on the system is then simulated on MATLAB/Simulink environment. The performance of the controllers is then further observed by introducing some external disturbance to the system.
