Abstract
The present study talks about drawing conclusions by evaluating the trends of emissions and performances characteristics of different biodiesel blends. As an alternative fuel for transport, Biodiesel is used due to easy availability and economic factors. Experiment analysis will be carried out on single cylinder, four stroke diesel engines. For carrying out the experiment palm oil is used as biodiesel and three blends were created one being pure diesel and the rest being proportional mix of diesel, biodiesel and ethanol. Compression ratio of the engine was fixed to 18:1 and the load was fixed to 12kgs with fuel injection pressure (FIP) ranging from 220bars to 260bars. Fuel consumption trends suggested that pure diesel have the least fuel consumption thus having the highest mechanical efficiency.
