Abstract

This editorial introduction to the 14.2 open call issue of Journal of Dance & Somatic Practices (JDSP) provides readers with an update on the journal develop-ments and news, followed by an overview of the articles and reviews that make up this issue. Welcome JDSP readers to our latest open call issue. This issue comes at a time when we are settling into the busy work of organizing the journal’s Dance and Somatic Practices Conference (DSP Conference) which will take place between 14 and 16 July 2023. The last conference was in 2019, not long before we found ourselves in a global pandemic, which made coming together physically, to investigate and celebrate somatic practices in the same interpersonal way impossible. So, now that in-person events have returned, we are really looking forward to welcoming familiar and new people to the conference. The call reads, This year we have recognised a need and desire in the wider somatic community to gather in this way again. Welcoming different perspectives from the ever-enrichening field, we also want to acknowledge, celebrate, and honour who and what has come before, to reflect on what has happened in recent years and to collectively explore current and future priorities for our community.
