Abstract

Grinding fluid plays a vital role in achieving high removal rates and good workpiece quality. This paper provides a summary description of a software-based user guidance manual for coolant delivery system design. The user guidance manual was conceived as a tool to aid users in industry improve the design and performance of coolant-delivery systems. The user guidance manual includes a series of design procedures based on case-based reasoning (CBR) and rule-based reasoning (RBR). This paper also describes an intelligent database that has been designed as an integral feature. The user guidance manual is constructed in MS Access with Visual Basic support code.
