Author's note: The Design Research Society (DRS) international biennial conference series is the leading forum for design theory and practice.
    There were nearly 500 original contributers from 32 countries for this conference, with a double blind peer review process, this paper was one of 148 full papers to being accepted and 24 posters presentations.
    The paper was cited as an important contribution to the formation of a body of ‘design knowledge’ through case studies by the conference reviewer Fiona Maciver, Dublin Institute of Technology.
