Abstract

It is with great excitement and not a little trepidation that we pen our first editorial for the first 2020 issue of Cultural Trends. Our predecessor and founder of the journal, Sara Selwood, has offered precious advice and moral support as we take the helm of her creation, but she has also left us with pretty impressive shoes in which to try and fit. We are going to do our best to see Cultural Trends through this new phase, which we hope will be one of growth and consolidation, and one of expansion and internationalisation. We take this opportunity to introduce ourselves, our assessment of where the field of cultural policy studies is at in the present moment, and how we intend to position Cultural Trends as a key voice in academic, professional and policy debates whilst at the same time broadening the perspectives and contexts for those debates.
