    Abstract

Coventry Words printed magazine and website is a creative writing showcase for all Coventry University students. Alyson Morris started this magazine in 2009, and acquired an ISSN from the British Library so that the University could produce ‘quality’ printed versions from 2011. The magazine (and the website: http://blogs.coventry.ac.uk/coventrywords) contains poetry, short stories, picture books, scripts, articles, radio dramas, and all things creative. Each year there is a new student editing team consisting of students on the English and Creative Writing degree. They are involved in editorial, print-runs, copy-editing, proofreading and selecting the submissions for the printed magazine and web, and there is a dedicated web team who are currently giving the website a new look for 2016-17. Students from design and photography are involved in the design for the printed magazine and are helping with re-vamping the website. Although there is now a student society, The Coventry Words Magazine Society (via the Student Union), Alyson still maintains her position of Executive Editor. Pdf versions of the magazine are being held on the National Association of Writers in Education (NAWE) and Writing West Midlands (WWM) websites, and the printed magazines can be found around the University (distributed by the student marketing teams), the Herbert Gallery and Museum shop, and Coventry City Library.
