    Abstract

Thirteen year old Dharma and her ten year old slobbery Bullmastiff Chops are the best of friends. They go everywhere together in their beloved home town of Gadsby. Well everywhere except to Gadsby School where Dharma is having some difficulties with the year eight bullies Smiler, Guider and Tank. When out for walks to the park that Dharma and Chops love, something magical happens the moment that Chops steps on to their most favourite of hills. The two girls sit with their thoughts every day on the hill, Dharma thinking how to deal with those school bullies as well as sorting out arguments with her dad whilst Chops has her own worries about how to convince Dharma to buy treats with a recently found shiny fifty pence piece! Will Dharma prevail over the bullies? Will she and her Dad sort out their differences? And will Chops ever be able to say words like "think", "there" and "thoughtful" without making an 'F' sound? All these questions and more will be answered in the town of Gadsby and on the hill of karma.
