The modelling of droplet heating, evaporation and combustion processes is crucial to the design and advancement of combustors (Al Qubeissi in Appl Therm Eng 136(C):260–267, 2018 ; Sazhin in Droplets and sprays. Springer, London, 2014 ), and essential to the assessment of suitability of fuel (Jones and Balster in Energy Fuels 11:610–614, 1997 ). In this study, we have conducted a detailed analysis of kerosene fuel droplet heating and evaporation, using the previously developed discrete component model (DCM).
