Abstract
The automatic transmission includes a control unit that controls the operation of the transmission brake (70). Braking torque is provided to the transmission when the motor torque is negative, vehicle speed is above a predetermined value, gear change downwards is demanded or is just being carried out and the service brake (52,54,56,58) is not in use. An Independent claim is also provided for a device for determining the moving direction of vehicle when driving the car from standstill.
