Abstract

Launched in 2021 The Professional Nurse Advocate (PNA) role is modelled on that of
the successfully implemented Professional Midwifery Advocate (PMA) (NHS England, 2021). During the global Covid-19 pandemic, staff stress and burnout was rising, leading to the implementation of the A-EQUIP model, to be delivered by PNAs.
The Advocating and Education for Quality Improvement (A-EQUIP) model (NHS England, 2021b) is used in 4 key ways.
- Making Quality improvement more accessible to nurses by mobilising the A-EQIUP model from theory into practice
- Improve patient safety through the successful mobilisation of the model.
- Empower the nursing workforce.
