Agency

Agency was created by Anthony Luvera in 2020 – 2021 in collaboration with people who have experienced homelessness in Coventry, commissioned by Coventry UK City of Culture, produced in association with GRAIN Projects.

Throughout 2021, Luvera invited participants to use disposable cameras to document their experiences and places in the city that are significant to them. Participants were also invited to use digital medium format camera equipment in order to work on the production of a self-portrait for the artist’s ongoing series Assisted Self-Portraits. Agency extends Luvera’s ongoing work made with people experiencing homelessness in towns and cities across the United Kingdom for almost twenty years.

In 2022, Agency was presented in Oslo by Fotogalleri Vasli Souza as a keynote for the international festival, Oslo Negativ from 23 September to 16 October 2022, in the . To accompany the exhibition of Agency in Det Gamle Biblioteket and in the public realm in Oslo city centre, a special edition of the Agency newspaper was published and distributed freely throughout the city.
