    Abstract

Increasing requirements regarding the fuel properties of the produced Refuse
Derived Fuel (RDF) from mixed municipal waste caused that research work on
increasing the calorific value has begun. One of the proposed methods is
torrefaction, a thermo-chemical process carried out in the temperature range from
200 to 300°C, in the absence of oxygen, at atmospheric pressure. The main product
of this process is a solid material with increased carbon content. The results of our
previous studies showed that this method allows to increase the RDF calorific value
    from 19 to 26 MJ∙kg-1
