Abstract

Based on the analysis and minimization of current harmonics in the synchronous reference frame under steady state, a simple machine-parameter-independent dead time compensation method is presented for permanent magnet synchronous machine drives. It has the advantage of simple signal processing algorithms. Compared with the existing current harmonic analysis methods based on the integrator output of the current harmonics, which can only use the d-axis current, the proposed method can use either the d-axis or q-axis currents to generate the precise compensation voltages. Further, the proposed method does not rely on operating conditions. Its effectiveness is verified by experimental results.
