Abstract

Integrated Scheduling and Routing Problems (ISRPs) emerge in healthcare, logistics, and transportation, where coordinating task assignments with resource movements is essential. Constraint Programming (CP) provides a powerful framework to model temporal, spatial, and synchronization constraints in such settings. This paper surveys CP-based approaches for ISRPs, spanning applications from drone delivery and home healthcare to rail, airport, and offshore operations. We identify core modeling challenges–including time windows, resource heterogeneity, and uncertainty–and analyze how CP interacts with complementary optimization techniques. Finally, we outline emerging research directions, emphasizing scalability to large datasets and real-time and dynamic decision-making.
