A Methodological innovation to inform antiracism and whiteness together – early reflections on juxtaposing narratives

This paper explains the origins of our collaboration of two researchers, the authors, who previously operated independently and separately on different aspects of race scholarship: belonging and whiteness.
The juxtaposing approach develops and produces an authentic understanding of views and opinions created from a situated perspective. By juxtaposing, we illustrate opposing views, bringing together diverse experiences beyond ethnic variance. We highlight the stark realities of racial oppression alongside the dominant perspective of the whiteness mindset and introduce what we term structural privilege
