Abstract
A headlamp assembly for a motor vehicle 10 includes a casing 15 which is attached to part of the body structure of the vehicle, a transparent cover 11 attached to the casing 15 to define a cavity, a mirror 13 fastened within the cavity and a projection unit 12 mounted outside of the cavity to project a beam of light onto the mirror. The mirror 13 is aligned so as to project a beam of light forwards when the projection unit 12 is illuminated and is fastened to the casing 15 by a weakened joint 14 so that the mirror 13 can collapse when impacted in the event of a collision with a pedestrian.
