On Our Land: Protecting Cultural Heritage in the South Hebron Hills

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

This intergenerational oral history project is working with thirty young Palestinian researchers in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt) in the South Hebron Hills. The researchers have recorded 100+ hours of oral histories, mapped their villages and hamlets, made a short twenty minute film in Arabic with English subtitles, and conducted a speaking tour to UK.

The research has received £288,350 during 2017-2019 from the British Council’s Cultural Protection Fund, in partnership with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, which is set up to protect cultural heritage at risk due to conflict in the Middle East and North Africa.
