Description
This project was completed in May 2005 for UNESCO MAB Secretariat when the world media (such as CNN, BBC), international organizations (e.g. UN and World Bank) and relief agencies were initially restricted to carryout aid works in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The project analysed interviews with the ANI administration, NGOs on relief work, local environmentalists, tourism dependent community including hotel & resort owners, travel & tour operators, other residents and tourists. The findings of the report were appreciated by Andaman Nicobar Administration, Ministry of Tourism, UNESCO Paris, and international organizations around the world and other government departments in India (Ministry of Tourism, New Delhi). The report was published by UNESCO under their South-South co-operation series and was circulated in several countries (e.g. Japan, Uruguay).
