Garden Escapers: Towards a holistic approach to invasive species escaping gardens

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

The overall purpose of this project is to develop mechanisms needed to deliver a fully integrated holistic Garden Escapers Project in North West Wales. In order to do this we will explore how to best engage with communities and key stakeholders to directly address invasive – and potentially invasive – plants escaping gardens into the wild. Building on extensive practical and research experience within the project team, learning from the successes and challenges of the current Garden Escapers research project and the lessons we’ve learnt. Through this development project we will engage with a wider range of stakeholders, such as garden centres and horticultural professionals, to achieve the holistic approach. An important aspect of the project will be to engage with potential partners with the intention developing a formal partnership for work beyond 2026. The focus of the development project will be on protected sites and North Wales Wildlife Trust reserves near the project target
areas.
