Centre for ‘Green Knowledge Economy', funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEIF 4). (Value: £201,900; 2010 - 2012; PI & Lead, Professor Adrian Newton).
Project summary: To develop a new strategic initiative within Bournemouth University focusing on the Green Knowledge Economy, by integrating research and enterprise activities across all relevant Schools, and by supporting innovation in this newly emerging area. Objectives include; a) to create a new Centre for the Green Knowledge Economy, b) to perform horizon scanning and market analysis to identify commercial opportunities in the green sector, and c) to stimulate and support collaborative partnerships with commercial, government and non-government organizations, focusing on building enterprise activity. The Centre gathered together the intellectual capacity from across BU to advise and work with businesses of all sizes, charities and government to develop and support: Carbon Accounting and Management; Sustainable design; Renewable energy systems; Corporate and social responsibility; ISO management standards; and Environmental law.
