Description
Armstrong Fastening Systems manufactures wire thread insert systems, mainly for the aerospace sector, with an annual turnover of approximately £3million. The business operates from a base in Hull, East Yorkshire and employs 50 staff. Armstrong Fastening Technologies designs, develops and manufactures specialist fasteners for the automotive sector with an annual turnover of approximately £25 million. A £2,000 research grant was provided to work on placement with the company to design an automated system for the insertion of helical inserts, similar to grub screws of length c.10mm, into domestic electronic products, such as televisions, during assembly.
