Dr Wissam Jamal received his B.Eng. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Swansea University in 1996. He then readmitted to the same university to pursue his higher education in Power Electronics. He completed his PhD in 2002 and thesis submitted was titled “Application of Modern Control Techniques in AC Speed Drives”. He had over 18 years industrial experience in the design and development of power electronics converters, embedded systems, industrial drives, and process automation, working alongside internationally leading companies such as ABB and Schneider. He held a leading role in engineering and industrial startups overseas. In addition, he worked as an external consultant on several government funded academic projects at King Fahd University for Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) covering projects on power quality mitigation strategies and Supercaps assisted STATCOM. He is also a senior memebr of IEEE. In September 2020, he joined Coventry University as an Assistant Professor in Power Electronics, Machines and Drives.
