Dr Wissam Jamal is currently working as a principal engineer at Coventry University, specialising in power electronics, machines, and drives. He is an IEEE senior member. He had over 18 years of industrial experience in the design and development of power electronics converters, embedded systems, industrial drives, and process automation, working alongside internationally leading companies such as ABB and Schneider. He held a leading role in engineering and industrial startups overseas. In addition, he worked as an external consultant on several government-funded academic projects at King Fahd University for Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), covering projects on power quality mitigation strategies and supercaps-assisted STATCOM. Dr Wissam Jamal received his B.Eng. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Swansea University in July 1996. He then readmitted to the same university to pursue a doctorate degree in power electronics. He completed his PhD in 2002, and the thesis submitted was titled “Application of Modern Control Techniques in AC Speed Drives”.
