    Research Interests

My research interests lie predominantly in understanding therapist schemas and their impact upon therapeutic interactions, interventions and outcomes in CBT. I have published research examining the relationship between therapist perfectionism and client treatment outcomes in CBT, as well as teaching nationally and internationally.

I am currently leading a research project to understand trainee therapists' experience of working with distress, including how their own emotional avoidance may interact with developing clinical competence.

My research activities compliment my teaching and supervisory practice, where I endeavour to bring a sharper focus to the role of the 'therapist-self' (e.g. cultural identity, values and beliefs) in the process of CBT treatment.
