    Biography

Dr. Thais Tasso Guaraldo is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Manufacturing and Materials at Coventry University, where she has been a member since 2023. Prior to this role, she served as a Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) at the University of Bath (UK), focusing on photocatalytic foams for micropollutant removal.

Dr. Thais Tasso Guaraldo earned her PhD in Chemistry from São Paulo State University (Brazil) in 2014, in collaboration with Durham University (UK). She also holds a BSc and MSc in Chemistry, completed in 2007 and 2010, respectively in the same institution.

Her primary research interests lie in catalytic materials for photocatalytic, photoelectrocatalytic, and electrocatalytic applications. She has developed nanomaterials for water treatment, hydrogen generation, and electrochemical sensors, utilizing electrochemical methods, substrate-free, and templated approaches. Since joining Coventry University, Dr. Thais Tasso Guaraldo has developed her expertise in electroless plating, smart textiles, hydrogen generation, and batteries, further building on her background in materials science.

As an early-career researcher, Dr. Thais Tasso Guaraldo has published numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and presented at several prestigious international conferences. She was awarded the Best Poster Prize at the Brazilian Symposium of Electrochemistry and Electroanalysis (Sibee 2017) for her work on carbon black electrochemical sensors. Her collaborative research on molecular foams also earned her the Best Poster Presentation at the RSC Materials Chemistry Division Symposium 2021.
