Research Interests

Simon is a qualified accountant who has taught across the education spectrum in 3 colleges and 6 universities on 46 business-related modules.  After serving as a military medic, Simon read Economics at LSE and then worked for Deloitte. Later, he taught business in Africa and the Middle East before studying an MSc in Environmental Management at Durham. He researched and lectured at the University of Queensland, where he completed a doctorate in Geographical Science (Real Estate). In Australia, Simon also worked as a government commercial analyst, evaluating infrastructure projects and foreign investments.  In 2013, Simon returned to UK where he designed or lectured UG and PG programmes in real estate, economics, accountancy and finance.  He advised on research projects and taught development or project management in China. Simon has published over twenty articles, a book on urban regeneration and several book chapters.  Simon regularly peer-reviews for Land Use Policy, Property Management and Sustainability.  His research involves infrastructure and public health for resilience.  Simon seeks to integrate lessons from military disasters into strategic risk evaluation.
