    Personal profile

    Research Interests

I am currently pursuing a doctoral program at Coventry University as a PhD student. I am originally from Kenya, but currently residing for the duration of my studies. My research is on Youth Activism for Climate and Sustainabilty in Kenya and Uganda.

I have a diverse academic background with degrees in German Studies, Political Science, and International Relations. In 2014, I obtained a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and German Studies from the University of Nairobi. During the same year, I was awarded a scholarship by DAAD to pursue a sandwich Masters program in Intercultural German Studies at the University of Nairobi and Oldenburg University in Germany. Following my studies, I predominantly gained professional experience in the field of development cooperation, which fueled my motivation to pursue a second Master's degree in International Relations from the United States International University-Africa.

Prior to embarking on my doctoral journey, I was the Head of Communications for GIZ (German Development Cooperation) Kenya and Somalia for 4 years. I also spearheaded the Corporate Sustainability Unit and organised several strategy workshops, which helped us in setting our sustainability goals as an organisation.

I am also a member of the Kenya Climate Change Working Group and part of the Youth and Marginalised people thematic group. Within this capacity, I collaborate with NGOs and local governments on projects aimed at enhancing the resilience of vulnerable populations in Kenya.

I am particularly interested in researching youth engagement in politics, as well as climate change and environmental activism, with a specific focus on the global south.
