    Shannon's project explores Morality and Marginalisation: A Creative and Critical Approach to the Moral Dilemmas of Women and Pirates in the Eighteenth Century. The thesis will consist of a novel and a critical piece which she aims to publish after the compilation of the course. 

    Biography

    Shannon completed a BA in Creative and Professional Writing (2018) and an MA in Writing for Performance (2019) at the University of Derby. She started her PhD in 2021 at Coventry University.

    Shannon also has an online presence as a blogger. She continues to run her blog, Little Sea Bear which she started in August 2017. This blog covers two of her interests: disability and writing. Disability is an important topic for Shannon as she was born with cerebral palsy and had a late diagnosis of Dyslexia, and through her blog Shannon is able to discuss her experience of living with a disability in the UK.   In terms of her creative writing, Shannon is mainly interested in prose and screenwriting. Shannon informs her readers what she is working on, along with difficulties she has, software she uses and her writing processes. To date she has had a collabrative radio drama script produced and distributed by the University of Derby (2019).  

    Research Interests

    Shannon is interested in British History. Currently, she is researching the mid Eighteenth Century for her PhD project. Creative Writing Theory is also another interest which is currently aiding her in her PhD project. She also has an interest in disability and its representation in the media.
