Personal profile


I hold both academic and professional experience. Prior to the appointment at Coventry University, I worked for four years at Durham University Business School and University of Lincoln. I also have four years professional experience as a Tax Officer at the Jordanian Tax Department. I am I am an associate member of the Jordan Association of Certified Public Accountant (JACPA).

At Coventry Business School, I am delivering different modules for undergraduate and postgraduate levels as well as supervising dissertations for both levels. I am currently working on different research projects in area of corporate governance. In terms of teaching qualification, I hold Durham University Learning and Teaching Award (DULTA) and Associate Fellow in Higher Education Academy (AFHEA).


Salem's main research interests focus on the corporate governance. In particular, the focus is on the role played by boards of directors, audit committees and ownership structure - as main corporate governance mechanisms- in different corporate aspects i.e. effect of these governance mechanisms on audit quality, financial performance, etc.
