Sahar is currently a Lecturer in Accounting at EFA, Faculty of Business and Law at Coventry University, in the United Kingdom. Before joining Coventry University, Sahar worked as a Senior Lecturer and as the PhD and Doctoral Programme Director at OYAGSB, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) from 2019 to 2023. She also served as a lecturer and Research Fellow at the University of Malaya and the International University of Malaya-Wales from 2014 to 2019. Moreover, she has more than five years of industry and professional experience. With over ten years of experience, she has been teaching financial and management accounting modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Her teaching interests encompass Corporate Governance, Sustainability and Ethics, Financial Analysis and Decision-Making, Managerial Accounting, and Research Methodology.

She received her Ph.D. in Accounting with high distinction from the University of Malaya (UM). She holds numerous international awards and certificates, including being a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute of the UK and the Malaysian Institute of Accountants. She was also the winner of the Emerald Teaching Case Study award in 2020. Sahar has been awarded several international grants as the principal investigator, including the Sumitomo Foundation of Japan, as well as a grant from the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education. Currently, she is working on her industrial grant in the Marine Industry. She is an active researcher, and her research manuscripts have been published in various academic journals and conference papers, including those with ABS 2* and ABS 3* rankings. One of her articles received recognition and a merit award from the Malaysian Institute of Accounting (MIA). Sahar has also served as a keynote speaker and organizer of international academic-industry training workshops. Moreover, she holds a certificate in the Experiential Learning Teaching Method Program from Harvard, Stanford, and Yale Universities.

She serves as an Editorial Advisory Board Member for Management Decision | Emerald Publishing) and International Journal of Emerging Markets | Emerald Publishing). Additionally, she is an Editorial Board Member for The Asia-Pacific Journal of Business Administration | Emerald Publishing). Sahar is an active reviewer for journals including Sustainability Accounting, Accounting Forum, Business Strategy and the Environment, Applied Economics, Spanish Accounting Review, and Management Decision, among others. Her research interests primarily focus on ESG, financial and sustainability reporting, corporate governance, and management performance measurement.
